The latest mock draft from CBS Sports has the Kansas City Chiefs filling a big need in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
CBS Sports has the Chiefs taking Florida State edge rusher Jermaine Johnson II with the No. 30 overall pick.
Here's what CBS had to say about the 6-foot-5/260 lb edge rusher:
Kansas City needs more youth and talent at the edge-rusher position. Johnson is a long, powerful rusher who had a huge 2021 with 17.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks.
The expectation this offseason is that Chiefs general manager Brett Veach will look to improve Kansas City's pass rush.
The Chiefs only had one sack in their AFC Championship game loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. After watching Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow get sacked nine times the previous week by the Tennessee Titans, it's fair to say that Kansas City's lack of a pass rush is a significant reason why they aren't playing in Super LVI.

Johnson, who started his career at Georgia before transferring to Florida State for his final season of eligibility, would be a solid pick at the end of the first round.
If he falls to the end of the first round.
The Minnesota native had a massive season in 2021, totaling 70 tackles, including 11.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss (Johnson's 17.5 tackles for loss were tied for seventh-best in the nation last season).
Johnson is participating this week in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL.
And he's been impressing scouts in attendance.
From NFL.com's Lance Zierlein and Chase Goodbread:
In Tuesday's practice, Johnson clearly showed that he has been putting in work on his pass rush during his preparation for the Senior Bowl. He attacked with a rip-and-run move, a bull rush, an inside spin move and even the always challenging outside spin move. Johnson's spins were fluid and fast, and they looked translatable to the next level. I had a first-round grade on Johnson entering this week, and with more flashes like the ones we saw on Tuesday, I certainly won't be alone in that projection. He made money on Tuesday.
This would be a great pick for the Chiefs. But I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson shoots up draft boards over the next couple of months.
