NFL.com thinks a savvy offseason move made by the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason could pay off in a big way in 2022.

Kevin Patra, an NFL writer for NFL.com, recently pointed out 11 one-year contracts that were signed this offseason that he thinks will "pay off".

One of the one-year deals he mentioned was the contract that wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster agreed to with the Chiefs earlier this offseason.

From NFL.com:

Smith-Schuster was a prove-it candidate last year but struggled to stay healthy in Pittsburgh. Joining Patrick Mahomes and a revamped receiver corps could get JuJu back on track. The Chiefs entered the offseason wanting to win more over the middle to make teams pay for playing two-high against Mahomes. That's where the 25-year-old can butter his bread. Playing with Mahomes boosts the profile of most pass-catchers, and a big season could set up Smith-Schuster in what looks to be a down year for the free-agent market at receiver next offseason.

Smith-Schuster looked like a future superstar after his second year in the NFL. The former USC star caught 111 passes for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns in 2018 while playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But unfortunately for Smith-Schuster, he's dealt with various injuries over the last couple of years which has limited his production. He also wasn't in a great situation in Pittsburgh with an aging Ben Roethlisberger under center.

Smith-Schuster will look to jump-start his career in Kansas City this season.

And there really isn't a better place for him to be. Patrick Mahomes is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL and he's already showing some nice chemistry with Smith-Schuster.

With Tyreek Hill no longer in the picture, Smith-Schuster should have plenty of opportunities to shine for the Chiefs this season.
