The Kansas City Chiefs are undoubtedly the team to beat in the NFL in 2023.
Kansas City showed last season that they're not going away anytime soon.
No Tyreek Hill?
No problem for Patrick Mahomes and company. The Chiefs cruised to their second Super Bowl win in last the three years this past winter via their 38-35 win against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.
When it comes to repeating as champs, CBS Sports thinks there's one "red flag" that Kansas City should be concerned about.
The national sports media outlet thinks the Chiefs' "wide receiver transition" could be a red flag for the franchise in 2023.
From CBS Sports: We aren't foolish enough to doubt Patrick Mahomes, regardless of his receiving corps; 2022 proved, after all, that he doesn't need a Tyreek Hill to own the rest of the NFL. But once again, they figure to be pretty dependent on tight end Travis Kelce, who's still in peak form but will be 34 in October. If he were to go down, they're counting on guys like Kadarius Toney and rookie Rashee Rice to seamlessly replace JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman.
I'm not sure it's wise to doubt Kansas City's wide receivers after seemingly everyone doubted Mahomes and the Chiefs last season just because they traded Hill to the Miami Dolphins.
Mahomes has entered that Tom Brady territory where it doesn't really matter which wide receivers he has at his disposal — he's going to elevate their play. And I'd expect that to continue in 2023.
