CBS Sports threw some unnecessary shade at the Kansas City Chiefs this week.

Bryan DeArdo, an NFL writer for CBS Sports, suggested this week that Kansas City was one of three NFL teams that did the least for their quarterback this offseason.

With Hill gone, Patrick Mahomes will likely lean more on Travis Kelce, at least until he gets more comfortable with his revamped receiving corps. The Chiefs are hoping that JuJu Smith-Schuster can return to the form that made him one of the league's most complete receivers during his first few years with the Steelers. Along with Smith-Schuster, the Chiefs also brought in Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who was likely signed to help fill the voids left by Robinson and Byron Pringle's offseason departures.

Similar to Green Bay, Kansas City will look to a high draft pick to help replace its departed star. For the Chiefs, that player is Skyy Moore, who was selected with the 54th overall pick. The 5-foot-10 Moore caught 95 passes for 1,292 yards and 10 touchdowns during his final season at Western Michigan.

Look, there's no doubt that losing wide receiver Tyreek Hill wasn't ideal. Hill is a speedy wide receiver who has a unique way of stretching the field.

But here's the thing — Hill wanted more money than Kansas City was willing to pay. Everyone has a limit and Hill went past the Chiefs' limit. It's not unlike what we saw the Tennessee Titans go through with AJ Brown this offseason.

Hill also wanted to go to the Miami Dolphins. Kansas City can't control what a player wants to do or where he wants to go.

But the Chiefs did an admirable job of trying to replace Hill as best they could. They found another speedster in Marquez Valdes-Scantling who can stretch the field. They also added a terrific young wide receiver, via the 2022 NFL Draft, in Skyy Moore.

Additionally, the Cheifs signed a high-upside wide receiver in JuJu Smith-Schuster, who looked like a future superstar at one point a few years ago with Pittsburgh Steelers.

Is life going to be tougher for Patrick Mahomes without Hill?

Of course. There aren't many players in NFL history like Hill.

But to suggest that Kansas City did very little to help Mahomes is non-sense. The Chiefs made smart moves that won't put the franchise in a bad financial situation (finances are important).

KC is still the team to beat in the AFC West. And as long as that's the case, I don't think it's fair to suggest that they aren't doing enough to help Mahomes.
