One of the most respected NFL analysts makes clear point regarding Chiefs and Travis Kelce's future that isn't talked about enough
Not only did the Kansas City Chiefs lose their chances at a three-peat by way of getting obliterated by the Philadelphia Eagles, sorry for reminding you, but they also lost in the fact that they could possibly lose one of the franchise's greatest players ever, maybe the second greatest behind Patrick Mahomes. And, this is a guy in Travis Kelce who is in the discussion for the greatest tight end of all time. Has he lost a step? Yes. The Chiefs and he have likely acknowledged that. I mean, let's not act like he didn't just play the worst game he has played in a long time in the Super Bowl. But, that doesn't mean he isn't of value to a Chiefs team that is trying to continue the dynasty.
Kelce is a leader, and a guy that is trying to submit himself as the greatest of all time at his position, and will do whatever it takes to get there, even if it means taking a lesser role in the offense.
So, yes, not having him back would be a great loss. But, when you think about it, it would be an even bigger loss to the game of football. We would no longer get to see maybe the greatest duo of all time.
"I just hope he comes back," Rich Eisen said on his show. "This league is better with Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce. This league is better with Travis Kelce on the field."
Kelce has 686 catches for 8,126 yards and has scored 56 touchdowns in 109 games with Patrick Mahomes being the passer in his career. That's a lot of times we have seen the two connect on some big-time, memorable moments throughout the last seven or eight years.
Rob Gronkowski had 620 catches for 9,275 yards and scored 93 touchdowns in 141 games with Tom Brady in his career for both the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So, it's possible for you to make a case that the two wearing red and gold are the greatest duo ever, and if you have them second, well, this next year could be a big year for the two of them if Kelce comes back.
