The Kansas City Chiefs signed wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year deal earlier this offseason.

Smith-Schuster, along with Marquez Valdes-Scantling will be tasked with replacing (as best they can) wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was traded to the Miami Dolphins last month for a plethora of draft picks.

In Smith-Schuster, the Chiefs are getting a wide receiver who is still young (25) and has a ton of upside. The former USC standout had over 1,400 receiving yards in 2018, his second season in the NFL.

Unfortunately for Smith-Schuster, injuries have prevented him from reaching his full potential.

One NFL executive, however, believes Smith-Schuster will have a terrific year for the Chiefs in 2022.

Then he thinks another NFL team will sign Smith-Schuster to a big deal after the season. And Smith-Schuster will be "terrible" (his words) with his new team.

“JuJu Smith-Schuster will play great for them for one year and $10 million,” said an anonymous NFL exec to The Athletic this week. “Then he will sign somewhere for $20 million and be terrible — watch.”

Chiefs fans probably don't care what Smith-Schuster does with his next team as long as he performs at a high level in 2022.

I don't think this comment from the NFL executive should be discounted, though. If Smith-Schuster has a good season in 2022, this comment will be worth revisiting when it comes time for the Chiefs to decide whether or not they want to re-sign Smith-Schuster.

Of course, there's a whole football season to be played before that's even a concern.
