NFL insider James Palmer is expecting wide receiver Hollywood Brown to make his season debut for the Kansas City Chiefs in their Week 16 matchup against the Houston Texans.

Brown has been medically cleared by doctors to play, and the Chiefs opened Brown's 21-day practice window last week. He practiced in full on Tuesday, which is a strong indication that he's on track to play this Saturday. Brown suffered a sternoclavicular joint injury on the first offensive snap of the Chiefs' Week 1 preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It was originally believed that he would only miss the first few weeks of the regular season, but he ended up on injured reserve after it was determined that he needed surgery. The fact that Brown is able to return at all this season is a testament to his work ethic and determination.

Here's what coach Andy Reid said on Tuesday when asked about Brown's status:

“He felt good," Reid said. "I mean, he felt good, moved around well, took quite a few reps. It wasn’t a leg injury, so he’s been working his legs. He’s one of those real good endurance guys anyways but he’s been working his legs throughout here. It’s just a matter of this whole thing and how it feels when he’s going. The doctors have really said it’s healed up nice and looks good, so we’ll just see. I’m going to do just like you are, play it by ear and see how we do here. If he can go, he’ll play. If he can’t then he won’t.”

Kansas City's offense sorely needs him. Brown not only provides elite speed, but he can line up anywhere in all formations. He will also help open things up for other Chiefs pass catchers. Brown will be a complement to DeAndre Hopkins, and the speed combination of Brown and Xavier Worthy could be lethal.

Brown's potential return this week is also timely given that quarterback Patrick Mahomes is ailing with a high ankle sprain. Mahomes needs all the help he can get right now as the Chiefs' passing game is very out of synch. If he has a setback and is unable to play this week, or has to leave the game early due to aggravating his ankle injury, it will be huge for backup Carson Wentz to have another weapon in Brown to work with.
