On Tuesday afternoon, ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano offered the latest update on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the plan for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in the Chiefs' win against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend and it's unclear how effective he'll be against the Bengals.

Here's the latest from Graziano via his appearance on ESPN on Tuesday afternoon:

"The early part of the week is about rest and treatment and rehab. They're not even on the practice field until tomorrow (Wednesday). And the extent to which he'll be able to participate in that has yet to be determined. They want to see how it responds to the treatment they're giving it early this week. And if he's able to get any activity in practice during the week, they want to see how it responds to that. The expectation is that he'll play. I don't think there's much doubt about that unless there's some kind of significant setback at some point this week. The question the Chiefs have to answer is how much it'll affect him and how much they'll have to change their offense if he's not able to be mobile. Because he's obviously a great quarterback even from the pocket. But his ability to create on the run is one of the many things that makes him special, so they may have to make some adjustments to the offense if his mobility is limited."

It sounds like this is going to be a situation where we really don't know how effective Mahomes will be until we see him on the field against the Bengals.

I know that's not an answer that Chiefs fans want to hear, but unfortunately, it appears to be the reality of the situation.
