The NFL appears to be attempting to jumpstart one of the league's storied rivalries with their latest scheduling decision.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders have a history as some of the NFL's most bitter division rivals, but that rivalry has been rather one-sided up until last season. The Raiders came into Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day and upset the Chiefs on their home turf. Kansas City will get a chance to exact some revenge with another national viewing opportunity in 2024.

TWSN's Malik Wright was the first to report that the Raiders would travel to the Chiefs for the league's now-annual Black Friday game during Week 13 on Nov. 29, which will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video. This has since been confirmed by the 33rd Team's Ari Meirov,

Reigniting the best rivalry in football on Black Friday

These two teams have a longstanding rivalry dating back to the AFL days, but the Chiefs have largely dominated the Raiders for the last decade. Kansas City currently leads the all-time series with a 73-55-2 record. The Chiefs have faced the Raiders 22 times since Andy Reid arrived as head coach in 2013. During that span, Kansas City boasts a dominant 18-4 record.

Of course, Las Vegas got their last win on Christmas Day in 2024. The Chiefs used that game as inspiration to step things up heading into the playoffs and eventually Super Bowl LVIII. For the Raiders, they hope that game will be a sign of things to come under new head coach (then-interim head coach) Antonio Pierce. He's opting to treat playing Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes as if he were Michael Jordan and the Raiders were the Detroit Pistons. We'll now get to see that strategy unfold while the team is the sole game on Television following the Thanksgiving holiday.

If this game goes well for Amazon, perhaps hosting this AFC West rivalry game will become a tradition on Black Friday.
