Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce and DT Chris Jones will make their 2023 NFL season debuts in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. Kelce returns after suffering a hyperextended knee in practice and Jones returns after a contract-related holdout

While it's hard to expect Kelce and Jones to have their typical workload on Sunday, the duo won't exactly be on a pitch count during the game either. This past week, Steve Spagnuolo explained it best when asked about how much Jones would play

"I don't want to put a number on it, I really don't," Spagnuolo said. "One year, I forget where I was, we had a linebacker that didn't play very much. It was like, 'Hey we're going to keep you at 25-30 snaps.' He played 60 snaps. I can't remember why, maybe someone got hurt. I'm not going to slap a number on it."

Spagnuolo and the training staff will keep tabs on Jones to see how he feels throughout the game. The last thing they want to do is put him in a situation where he gets himself hurt.

As for Kelce, sources tell A to Z Sports that the week off, "did wonders for his knee." The Chiefs are actually expecting Kelce to be fairly close to 100% on Sunday, but they'll be cautious throughout the game as well. The team kept Kelce limited throughout the practice week as a precaution and that seems to have paid dividends as far as his health is concerned.

They're so confident in Kelce's health that they didn't elevate TE Matt Bushman from the practice squad this week. That leaves the team with just two tight ends besides Kelce on the 53-man roster (Blake Bell and Noah Gray).
