The New York Jets are sending some mixed signals about their QB situation.

The Jets have been reeling after losing Aaron Rodgers for the entire 2023 NFL season to an Achilles injury that occurred just three snaps after his season began. New York has resorted to former first-round draft pick Zach Wilson in the wake of the injury and the results haven't been good.

Jets HC Robert Saleh confirmed after the team's Week 3 game that they're sticking with Wilson, but their latest move suggests that he might have a short leash.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Jets are signing veteran NFL QB Trevor Siemian, pending a physical.

The 31-year-old was with the Jets once before back in 2019, but the Chiefs know him best from his time with the Denver Broncos.

Why is this significant for the Chiefs? Well, if Wilson struggles against Kansas City's defense on "Sunday Night Football" they just might see Siemian play. According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Jets targeted Siemian because he can pick up a system quickly.

Siemian's last game against the Chiefs came in 2017. He went 19-of-36 passing for 198 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Of course, that was before Steve Spagnuolo and the only Chiefs defender that remains from that team is Chris Jones.

Still, New York is stuck in a special kind of quarterback purgatory right now, and it doesn't seem to be letting up with Week 4 on deck.
