The National Football League has shown its support for Kansas City after a shooting at the Chiefs' Super Bowl LVIII parade and rally.
Just after 3 p.m., police reported that shots were fired around Union Station. They also asked everyone in the area to leave.
According to KSHB-TV 41, the shooting occurred west of Union Station near the garage. Two people are currently detained in connection to the shooting. Multiple people are injured, with the Kansas City Fire Department releasing a statement that as many as 10 victims could have been struck in the act of violence. KC Police have confirmed that among the victims are multiple children who have been transported and are being treated at Children's Mercy Hospital.
The Mayor and Police Chief later provided an update, confirming that one person has died and there are anywhere from 10-15 who were injured.
They later specified that there are a total of 22 total victims who suffered from gunshot wounds. According to Children's Mercy Hospital, they are specifically treating 12 patients, 11 of which are kids, and nine of them have gun shot wounds.
