Former NFL punter/current podcaster/WWE personality Pat McAfee has a theory on why the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game.

And it's honestly ridiculous.

McAfee seems to think that Patrick Mahomes' brother and fiancée are the reason the Chiefs lost.

"He (Mahomes) had always done well in these biggest games, and then the second half just completely fall apart,” said McAfee on his show this week. “Let’s assume it’s the entire offense. Let’s do that whole thing and not just blame it completely on him, but maybe it was Jackson and Brittany.”

“There are some people in the studio that are team Britney, and this is not one of those things,” added McAfee. “But they’ve been thrusted into the spotlight as well at a young age, right? Off the field, Patrick Mahomes, then there’s videos obviously surfacing from yesterday from the tag team of insufferability over there. I mean, there’s just a lot of stuff, but I think next season we’ll see a very different group, but I am bummed for the Chiefs.”

This is the most absurd suggestion I've heard for the loss to the Bengals.

You can think what you want of Brittany Matthews and Jackson Mahomes. It doesn't really matter — what they do before, during, or after the game is irrelevant to the Chiefs winning or losing.

There's absolutely no way they had any impact on the outcome of the game. That's the last thing that Mahomes is thinking about during the game. The Bengals won because of their defensive approach in the second half (dropping eight in coverage) which proved to be extremely effective against the Chiefs' passing attack.

I like McAfee. I enjoy his show. But he's way off base here. The reasons the Chiefs lost were 100 percent football reasons. Not because Jackson Mahomes did a dance in a luxury box suite at halftime.
