Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is well on his way to becoming one of the greatest playoff quarterbacks of all time.
Mahomes is only 26 years old. And he just completed his fourth full season as a starting quarterback. Yet he already has seven (7!) playoff wins.
Check out some of the quarterbacks that have fewer playoff wins than Mahomes:
- Johnny Unitas
- Phil Simms
- Joe Theisman
- Bob Griese
- Steve McNair
- Fran Tarkenton
- Phillip Rivers
- Matt Ryan
- Cam Newton
If the Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills on Sunday evening, it will tie Mahomes with Dan Marino, Steve Young, and Eli Manning in career playoff wins.
A win against the Bills would also give Mahomes the same amount of playoff wins over the last 10 years as Aaron Rodgers.
If Mahomes has similar success over the next six to seven years that's he's already experienced in the NFL, he could very easily put himself in third place all-time in playoff wins by the time it's all said and done (with a shot at second place).
Here are some notable quarterbacks ahead of him:
- Tom Brady (35)
- Joe Montana (16)
- John Elway (14)
- Peyton Manning (14)
- Ben Roethlisberger (13)
- Brett Favre (13)
- Troy Aikman (11)
- Aaron Rodgers (11)
- Drew Brees (9)
Mahomes is already in legendary company. And he's really just entering the prime of his career.
I don't think there's any doubt that Mahomes is on his way to becoming a first-ballot Hall of Famer if he keeps this up.
