The NFL has fined Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes $14,069 for unsportsmanlike conduct during his Week 11 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

After throwing a fourth quarter touchdown pass to tight end Noah Gray, Mahomes celebrated by making gunshot gestures. The league considers that a violent gesture, and has cracked down hard on players doing anything that resembles using a weapon.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero posted the video clip on X.

Mahomes obviously didn't mean anything harmful or inappropriate, but the NFL has made it a point of emphasis to hand down fines for those type of celebrations. The league has worked hard in recent years to separate itself from all forms of violence. It's probably safe to say that Mahomes will learn from this and not let it happen again.

He has bigger things to worry about as the Chiefs look to bounce back into the win column on Sunday over the Carolina Panthers. Mahomes is coming off one of his worst performances of the season against Buffalo, and has an appealing matchup against a Panthers defense that ranks 29th overall.

Kansas City will remain the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a victory and reach at least 10 wins for the 11th time under coach Andy Reid.
