Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has made a reputation for delivering on his promises as of late.

Last year Mahomes promised Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt that he and the Chiefs would defeat the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game and secure another Lamar Hunt trophy in honor of Clark's mother, Norma Hunt.

Norma passed away in June of 2023, and Chiefs players wore a patch on their jerseys throughout the 2023 season featuring her initials. After Mahomes delivered another conference title to the Hunt family, he made a promise to Chiefs fans that they would host the AFC Championship Game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium the following year.

Mahomes was a man of his word yet again as Kansas City is set to host the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday. The Chiefs went 15-2 during the regular season and defeated the Houston Texans in the divisional playoff round to get to this point.

While joining The Drive with Carrington Harrison and Sean Levine on Tuesday, Mahomes described how excited he is to potentially win another AFC title in front on his home crowd.

"You want to be at Arrowhead playing these games because the fans are such a huge part of our success," Mahomes said. "And obviously we were able to do it last year, but being able to play at home gives us a little bit more of an advantage. Like I said, we're playing a great football team and we need everything that we can because it's going to be a battle. And we're excited for the opportunity and hopefully we can go out there and get that Lamar Hunt trophy, and win it again at Arrowhead."

If the Chiefs win on Sunday, they will secure their fifth AFC championship in six years, and sixth in team history. They will then have the opportunity to become the first team in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in a row. As for Mahomes, he'll get a shot to win a fourth Super Bowl MVP, which would be the second-most ever behind legendary QB Tom Brady.
