The prolific season of Kansas City Chiefs rookie WR Rashee Rice continues.

The 2023 NFL regular season ended with Rice having broken the franchise record for receptions and the franchise record for touchdown receptions by a rookie in a single season. He finished second to only Dwayne Bowe in receiving yards (938) and targets (102). He likely could have broken both of Bowe's records had he played in the season finale against the Chargers, but the team opted to rest him, and for good reason. That rest helped produce another record-breaking performance.

Rice finished his first career playoff game with eight receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets. That performance was good for the most receiving yards by a rookie in a playoff game in franchise history.

The touchdown from Rice helped his team take a lead that they didn't surrender.

Rice joins WR Elmo Wright (Dec. 25, 1971, vs. the Miami Dolphins) as the only two rookies in franchise history to record 100 or more receiving yards in a playoff game. Wright, of course, was the previous single-game rookie record-holder for Kansas City. He managed his 100-yard game on three receptions and it was also during the only playoff game that he appeared in during his tenure with the Chiefs.

They say history repeats itself. It only feels fitting that Rice broke this playoff record, which stood for over 50 years, against the Dolphins. It makes you wonder what other pieces of history he'll manage to claim as he continues his young career.
