The Kansas City Chiefs have a player that just made a lot more money after some news broke on Wednesday afternoon.

I think by now we all know the Chiefs have seven players that made the Pro Bowl. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, Tommy Townsend, Joe Thuney, Orlando Brown, and Creed Humphrey were all selected.

Humphrey, the second-year center, just made a lot of money because of his selection. Because he made the Pro Bowl in 2022, he now qualifies for a Level Three PPE in 2024.

PPE, or a Proven Performance Escalator, is "a fourth-year salary escalator for players on drafted rookie contracts not drafted in the first round", per Over The Cap.

The Level Three PPE is earned if a player is selected to a Pro Bowl in any of his first three seasons (alternates don't count). The Level Three PPE will raise the base salary to the amount of the 2nd round-restricted free agent tender.

Right now, it's unclear as to how much the 2024 tender will be. But, just for reference, Jalen Hurts' base pay is going to go from a little more than $1.3 million to a tad over $4.3 million in 2023 since he made his first Pro Bowl this year.

So, while we don't know the official amount of Humphrey's raise yet, it's clear it will be quite the substantial bump.

It's well deserved, too. Humphrey has been one of the best centers in the league, and a lot of people, including myself, would say he is the best. He deserved to get paid a bit.
