The Kansas City Chiefs are always looking for ways to get better, especially during this dynasty era. Let’s be real, no one on the team wants the dynasty to end, so they’re always trying to get better. And, that’s what separates them from a lot of others.

Where other teams would never bring on some of their biggest rivals ever, like Jon Gruden, and in it that person to training camp, the Chiefs do it. Gruden is one of the best offensive minds we have ever seen in the NFL, and is a mad man when it comes to football. They brought him to training camp and he helped out.

The Chiefs just did something similar, again, with a former Las Vegas Raiders head coach. This week, you may have seen one of the weirdest things you will see in sometime — one of the most Raider of Raiders coaches in recent memory, wearing Chiefs gear.

Steve Spagnuolo, the Chiefs defensive coordinator, had Antonio Irene out at training camp. Pierce was the Raiders head coach last year and half of the year before. Pierce is the coach that mentioned the “Mahomes Rules,” and said that he wants his team to hate red. Well, the tables have turned, and now he’s helping the Chiefs out a bit, and Spags is using that to his advantage in more than one way.

Pierce was a pretty good linebacker back in his playing days, and Spagnuolo was one of his coaches. So, it makes a ton of sense.

“I think you guys probably know this, Antonio and I have been close for a long time. In 07’ when i went to New York with the Giants, he was the MIKE linebacker. The present day version of Antonio Pierce is Nick Bolton. Obviously, looking at Antonio and what he’s like now, he’s been a coach and he’s been a head coach and it’s nice to have that when you’re a defensive coordinator. I have a lot of respect for Antonio, and the guys loved having him. He’s given them feedback from a players standpoint, a head coach standpoint, and maybe we will ask him about some Las Vegas Raiders stuff,” Spagnuolo said with a smile.

A ton of Raiders fans are mad about this, and I get it, but I also don’t get the hate. They’re fans, so they’re supposed to be mad. Bu also, Pierce is hanging out with his mentor, and he also doesn’t have a job. So, why wouldn’t he help out the Chiefs if it meant getting paid a bit. Then there is the fact that Pierce was fired by the Raiders, so why wouldn’t he help he care about them and how that looks anymore?

The Chiefs are a team that will use any advantage they can get, even if it means talking to a former bitter rival. And, let’s not forget just how respected and loved Andy Reid and Spags are.
