Taylor Swift reveals the hilarious reason why Ed Sheeran found out about her engagement to Travis Kelce on Instagram

When Travis Kelce popped the question to Taylor Swift, she couldn’t wait to tell her closest friends and family. However, there was one person who didn’t find out until the singer posted the news on Instagram.
When speaking with Andy Cohen in September for SiriusXM’s Small Stage Series, Sheeran revealed that he found out about his close friend’s engagement on Instagram.
“Instagram?” Cohen questioned
“Yeah,” Sheeran replied.
“Like everyone else. You didn’t even get a DM in advance?” Cohen asked, and Sheeran replied, “No.”
However, Taylor Swift is now clearing the air on how this exactly happened.
The singer appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, and the two played a game where Fallon read five things he heard on the internet and had to guess which one was actually true. The late-night host first guessed that the singer’s speech at Selena Gomez’s wedding included a mention of both of them being engaged at the same time, but Gomez beating her down the aisle. However, that was not true, as she made it a point to let the day only be about her close friend and not bring up anything about her engagement. She did find a way to work in some light jokes about the way they dressed in 2008 when they first met.
Fallon then guessed that the Sheeran one was true, to which Swift replied, “That’s so true.”
“Oh no!,” Fallon exclaimed.
“But I have the perfect explanation. He doesn’t have a phone,” she admitted, which earned some laughs from the audience. He doesn’t have a phone.”
“And this is one thing I love about him. It’s very eccentric. Love it. But when I’m going through… I’m going through my texts and being like, ‘Who have I texted within the last month of my life?’ And he just wasn’t there,” she added.
“So how do you get ahold of him? The bat signal,” Fallon questioned
“You have to email and then if you want to set up a FaceTime he has to find an iPad,” she replied. “They have to give it to him like he’s a child.”
Similar to how Ed found out through social media, Taylor also found out that she forgot to tell him in a similar way.
“This is one of my absolute favorite people on the planet,” she stated. “The news came out, and I was like,’ Oh my God, we forgot to call Ed.”
