Chiefs, Jones, Texans

The Houston Texans' quarterback Davis Mills sounds like he hasn't watched much tape on the Kansas City Chiefs based on his recent comments.

And based on the record, I don't know if Mills has watched much film on anyone but the Texans.

This matchup on Sunday is between what many perceive to be the best team, and what is the worst team. The Chiefs' offense is going to do its thing, which is score 30 points a game, but the defense has surprised a lot of teams this season.

A big reason why the Chiefs' defense has been so good is because of one man. Chris Jones, who is in the running for defensive player of the year, has been the best at his position all season long.

It hasn't been Aaron Donald, who is usually the best at that defensive tackle soot with Jones right behind him. No, this year it has been all Jones. However, it seems as if Mills hasn't heard about the season Jones is having. Either that, or he just isn't watching film.

“He’s a really good player, and he’s shown that for years and years now," Mills said of Jones. "It’s something we have to keep focused on, but our offensive line has stepped up extremely well and handled the challenges all year. It’s just like any other week.”

All I see in this statement is Mills comparing dealing with Jones just like any other week. You would think based on the season he is having, and the respect he is demanding from other teams, that this wouldn't be just like any other week.

Jones has been a top-five defensive player in 2022, and a lot would say a top-three. His ability to get to the quarterback this year, and put pressure on him even when he is doubled teamed is truly astonishing. He has shown that you can't really gamelan for him.

I think Mills needs to realize too, that going against him isn't like any other week. But hey, he will see that on Sunday. I wouldn't be surprised if Jones gets more than one sack honestly.
