The Kansas City Chiefs stunned the NFL world on Wednesday by trading superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for a bundle of draft picks (including the No. 29 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft).
Trading Hill leaves a gaping hole in the Chiefs' offense.
Hill is a unique game-changing wide receiver who is a threat to score literally every time he touches the ball. There's no way for Kansas City to fully replace Hill, simply because there's no other wide receiver in the NFL like him.
The Chiefs, however, still have to try to do their best to replace Hill. And I think the best option would be via another trade.
Specifically, I think Kansas City should make a deal with the Seattle Seahawks for wide receiver Tyler Lockett.
DK Metcalf would be a great addition as well. But he's heading toward a lucrative contract extension.
Lockett would likely be cheaper for the Chiefs to acquire in a trade (Metcalf is five years young than Lockett). He would also leave Kansas City with more financial flexibility than Metcalf (Lockett is under contract through 2025).

Lockett obviously isn't Hill. But he's a high-level wide receiver that could be a major weapon for Patrick Mahomes in the passing game.
The former Kansas State wide receiver is coming off the best three-year stretch of his career. Lockett has topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of his last three seasons while playing 48 out of a possible 49 games.
Lockett is a great vertical threat in the passing game who can put pressure on a defense and open up the intermediate passing game for JuJu Smith-Schuster and Travis Kelce. He's essentially a perfect fit in the Chiefs' offense.
Just look at the way Lockett adjusts to this Russell Wilson throw.
Lockett could thrive with Mahomes as his quarterback.
Kansas City is still a strong Super Bowl contender without Hill. But if they want to ensure they reach another AFC Championship game this season, they need to strengthen their wide receiver room. Trading for Lockett is the move that makes the most sense.
