Jason Kelce felt like he couldn't say anything right during the week leading up to Super Bowl LIX.
He was pulled in two different directions, and the result was a "terrible" experience.
"It felt like no matter what I said, some people were going to skew it and say I’m rooting for the Eagles and some people were going to skew it and say I’m rooting for the Chiefs or Travis," Jason explained on the latest episode of New Heights. "It sucked.”
However, Travis wasn't going to let his brother feel like he did anything wrong. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end fired back at all the trolls.
"It’s the world we live in. Everybody just wants to f***ing call people out," Travis said. "I know I always had your support and I joked around about you cheering for the Eagles. Listen, you and Kylie are there in Philly and have created one of the most beautiful situations that I’ve ever seen. You guys are loved by the community out there. You guys are very much a part of the community out there. Outside of that, that organization, everything from the foundation stuff that Kylie does, that both of you guys do, to the countless, countless amount of hours and years you spent in that organization giving it everything that you have. You don’t have to explain anything to anybody.
"As long as the people right here. I know who Jason Kelce is and I know my brother and what his intentions are. Nobody can ever f***ing confuse that. And you can’t let these (people) online make you think that you’re in the wrong for what you’re saying. What you’re saying, I hear it. I hear it loud and clear, and I think the people in the Philadelphia organization understand exactly who you are and what you represent and how you were saying it.”
It was clear how much this was eating at Jason.
“All that is true and we are still very much attached to this organization," Jason responded. "There’s part of me that’s obviously very happy and proud that they won this game.
“And that doesn’t make you less of a brother,” Travis cut in.
"That did not take precedence over rooting for you," Jason continued. "And that’s why this game sucked. It was very, very hard to watch. As much as I love the Eagles, as much as I love the city of Philadelphia, there was not a f***ing ounce of me… and I don’t know. I tried to correlate that I was rooting for both sides the whole time and I was going to be happy and sad regardless. No matter who won it was going to be happy and sad regardless.”
Travis understood and knew that his brother was always supporting him at every moment.
"You don’t owe any of these d***heads the acknowledgment," Travis said. "You really don’t Jason. Everybody that knows you, knows your intentions. Anybody saying anything otherwise is, like you said, is just trying to get a rise out of somebody else”
