Travis Kelce is making the absolute most out of a situation he hasn’t been a part of in a very long time
Travis Kelce and the Chiefs have to bounce back vs. the Colts on Sunday.
Despite being 5-5 on the year, the Kansas City Chiefs may still have the best tight end in football. Travis Kelce, the 36-year-old pass catcher who contemplated retirement after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, ran it back again, and is actually having a great season.
Right now, Kelce is on pace to pass 1,000 receiving yards. The only issue is that, this time around, he likely doesn’t care about it as much because the team’s success just isn’t there. They’re .500 through ten games, the worst Kelce has been through ten games since before Patrick Mahomes was his starting quarterback. But, he’s finding a way to make it all positive.
“If there’s still a chance, I’m fighting,” Kelce told reporters on Friday. “I think right now it’s a different season than we’ve had really since I can remember. Every single day is a challenge, and I love that. I got all the faith in the world in everybody in this building.”
The good thing is, there is still a chance.
The Chiefs can still make the playoffs
Making the postseason is not out of the realm of possibilities for this iteration of the Chiefs. If there is any team in the world you’d want to put money on to come out of a season 5-5, making the postseason, it’s the Chiefs – It’s Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. But there are things they have to fix. They know that, as they’re aware, they cannot just get by the rest of the way.
“I think it’s not a matter of effort. It’s all just execution,” Kelce said. “We’re in here every single day grinding our tails off, trying to get that fixed. You feel it from the coaches. They’re tightening things up a little bit so we focus on those details, and so we can play fast and play with a purpose.”
Mahomes has some elite weapons around him, with a pretty good offensive line, too. Sure, the running back room looks bleak right now, but it was working last game against the Denver Broncos, at times. So, the issues are execution and the coaching staff putting the players in better positions to succeed.
The Indianapolis Colts have a great offense and defense, and will be one of the best teams the Chiefs have faced this season. The game is at home, so you can’t rule out anything. But Kansas City has some things to fix if it wants to be 6-5 now and have a better view of the postseason.

Dameon Pierce could be the perfect fit for the Chiefs, but only if they make the change that everyone has been begging for
The Kansas City Chiefs should only go after former Houston Texans RB Dameon Pierce if they’re ready to get real about running the football from under center.
