Chiefs TE Travis Kelce wasn’t going to let his teammates trick him after one of his biggest plays vs. the Commanders
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Washington Commanders handily on the back of Travis Kelce.
Travis Kelce is off to a great start this season for the Kansas City Chiefs. He has had a few errors that have really cost the team at times, like the bobbles that have ended up in the other teams hand against the Jacksonville Jaguars and now the Washington Commanders. But when he’s given the ball and he’s caught it, Kelce looks a bit like the Kelce we all know and love.
In this last game, Kelce had 99 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Not to mention, he’s been blocking a lot better, too. But there was one play that stood out the most that made him look a bit like the Kelce who was in his prime a few years ago, and his teammates tried to trick him after the play.
Travis Kelce knows he did not run 23 miles per hour
“23 miles an hour,” Robert Tonyan said to Kelce when he got back to the sideline after his big catch and run on first down in the second half.
“No chance. No chance,” Kelce said back. “15, maybe. 15, maybe.”
“They told me,” Tonyan replied laughing. “23 kilometers per hour.”
Then Mahomes got in on the laughs.
“I was looking at Travis like ‘GO, GO,’” he yelled.
Kelce was moving faster than maybe he did all of last season, but he definitely was not running 23 miles per hour, asks everyone knew that. But, it’s great to see the chemistry this team has and the fact they’re having fun again, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. Sure, they won a lot of games last season, but every game they won was extremely close and the offense didn’t look great most the time.
Now, this team is having fun again, because the defense is locking up opposing team’s offenses – most of the time – and the offense is putting up points and making it look easy.
