Kansas City Chiefs, Amari Cooper

There is no secret the Chiefs need another receiver to play behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. Of course, the Josh Gordon experiment did not work out quite how they would have liked, and the same could possibly be said for Mecole Hardman as well.

The Chiefs could enter this offseason doing one of two things. The first option is to target a receiver in the draft, which may be the better option considering the cap space they do have.

The second option for Kansas City is targeting players through the free-agent market. While the cap space and money situation may look like it isn't there right now, Brett Veach can always make something out of nothing.

For that second option, the Chiefs could potentially go get Amari cooper who will be let go by the Dallas Cowboys.

Amari Cooper makes sense for the Kansas City Chiefs Chiefs

For Kansas City, the Chiefs could use a receiver like Amari Cooper, as could any team if we are being honest, just not for the contract he currently has.

Cooper finished the 2021-2022 season with several impressive stats. Cooper played 15 games last year, in which he finished with 65 catches, 865 yards, and 8 touchdowns.

The 27-year-old receiver totaled 292 catches, 3893 yards, and 27 touchdowns in the four seasons he has spent with Dallas, which ended up being 56 total games with the club.

By the look of the numbers, and the eye test, Cooper is not a true number one receiver. However, he can be an elite number two guy, especially for the Chiefs.

Cooper can take the pressure off of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce game in and game out. That is something Chiefs fans should want. As of right now, the Chief's number two receiver is Mecole Hardman, who often makes large mistakes that set the team back.

For Amari Cooper, he makes mistakes as well, but they usually aren't as magnified as Hardman's, even in being a number one receiver for the Cowboys. If he were to join the team, Cooper could eventually find himself as a super bowl champion.
