Las Vegas Raiders end up looking like geniuses after an unfortunate situation happened in a different preseason game
The Las Vegas Raiders ended up lucking out with the Jakorian Bennett – Thomas Booker trade.
Most of the Las Vegas Raiders fan base threw their arms in the air when they saw that the team traded its most talented cornerback, Jakorian Bennett, to the Philadelphia Eagles, for a player most have never heard of, Thomas Booker.
However, that trade now makes general manager John Spytek and coach Pete Carroll look like absolute geniuses.
Indeed, Booker appears to be a promising prospect after further reviewing his game. He gets to the backfield a ton, and at his size, he moves well on his feet. In the two preseason games we have seen him in, he played extremely well. Still, Bennett was the best cornerback on the Raiders last season, and they traded him away.
It didn’t look like the best trade at the time, but knowing what we know now, maybe it was a great trade.
Raiders trading Jakorian Bennett for Thomas Booker was good in retrospect
On Saturday, we got to see the Raiders take on the San Francisco 49ers in their second preseason game, and there is a lot more to be happy about now than there was last week. The offense looked great with the starters, and the defense did some really nice things.
But something extremely unfortunate happened in another game.
The Philadelphia Eagles played the Cleveland Browns, and Jakorian Bennett actually ended up getting hurt. He landed on his shoulder, the one he initially hurt last year and had surgery on this year, and actually seemed to have re-injured it.
It sucks because you know how good he is, and how good he can be. When he went down with his injury in Week 10 last season, he was leading the league in pass breakups. But now, the Raiders look like geniuses, because they traded away a guy who can’t stay on the field for a guy who looks like he can really help them on the defensive line.
So, maybe John Spytek just fleeced Eagles GM Howie Roseman?
