The Los Angeles Chargers have had a rocky 2024 season so far, and it has them sitting at 3-3 on the year.
They still have plenty to play for down the stretch, but it's always a good time to check out how mock drafts are shaping out this time of year. A to Z Sports' latest mock draft is out, myself and five other NFL Draft analysts took turns making selections for all 32 teams.
And the Chargers ironically landed one of the most electrifying players in all of college football.
Chargers land Boise State RB and Heisman candidate Ashton Jeanty

"JK Dobbins is a tremendous player when healthy, but he just can't seem to stay on the field and is a free agent after this year. Jeanty is one of the ten best prospects in the class as a truly dynamic three-down weapon."
– Ryan Roberts selects Ashton Jeanty for the Chargers
Unless you've been living under a rock, I'm sure you know all about Ashton Jeanty insane 2024 college football season to date. He leads the nation in rushing yards with 1,248 yards, and his 9.9 yards per carry is the most by any player with at least 80 carries on the season. He is also tied for second in the nation with 17 rushing touchdowns and has been the driving force to have Boise State sitting at 5-1 on the year and ranked 17th in the country.
The Chargers' leading rusher through the first seven weeks of the season has been J.K. Dobbins, who has turned his 95 carries into 478 yards and three touchdowns. He is eighth in the NFL in rushing yards, and all but one player ahead of him on the list (Saquon Barkley) has played an extra game this season.
So Dobbins has had a solid career resurgence in Los Angeles after injuries derailed his tenure with the Baltimore Ravens. However, as Roberts stated in the mock draft, he is a free agent after this year, and his injury history would be hard for any team to link themselves to as their long-term starting RB. And the chance to land Jeanty on a four-year (that can turn into five) rookie contract may be too tempting for the Chargers to pass on.
