The Los Angeles Charges were among the NFL leaders in receiving compensatory picks for the 2025 NFL Draft with three.

35 in total were granted around the league, with the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and Dallas Cowboys leading the way with four. Here are the three that the Chargers received:

  • Round 6, Pick 209 (Pick 33 of Round 6)
  • Round 6, Pick 214 (Pick 38 of Round 6)
  • Round 7, Pick 255 (Pick 39 of Round 7)

That gives Los Angeles 10 total selections in April's draft. That is a ton of ammo, allowing for potential trade-ups. Check out the Chargers' full draft order:

  • 1st round (No. 22 overall)
  • 2nd round (No. 55)
  • 3rd round (No. 86)
  • 4th round (No. 125 overall)
  • 5th round (No. 158 overall)
  • 6th round (No. 181 overall from New England)
  • 6th round (No. 199 overall)
  • 6th round (No. 209 overall – compensatory pick)
  • 6th round (No. 214 overall – compensatory pick)
  • 7th round (No. 255 overall – compensatory pick)

The Chargers have a golden opportunity to build a deep and well-rounded roster not just for the 2025 season, but the foreseeable future. They're already off to a great start in the free agency legal tampering period, agreeing to terms with players such as running back Najee Harris, cornerback Donte Jackson, and re-signing linebacker Khalil Mack.

When those signings become official on Wednesday (the start of the new league year), Los Angeles still has plenty of salary cap room if it chooses to stay active in free agency. However, building through the draft will be crucial to keeping its roster young and affordable. If the Chargers can hit on at least a couple of their picks, they could take the next step in becoming a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

Perhaps one of those hits will come via their compensatory selections. Some recent comp. picks that have gone on to have good NFL careers include quarterback Dak Prescott, safety Justin Simmons, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, and running back Aaron Jones.
