Minnesota Vikings 2026 Free Agency Tracker: Biggest signings, departures, and major moves
The Minnesota Vikings will be active in free agency, but they aren’t expected to be big spenders.
Free agency is upon us, and the Minnesota Vikings are expected to be active over the next few days.
While the Vikings aren’t expected to be big spenders during the course of free agency, they will be active, as they have a lot of holes to address:
- Center
- RB1
- WR3
- Swing tackle
- Center
- DT
- EDGE
- LB
- CB
- S
- P
Interim general manager Rob Brzezinski is going to have a lot of work on his hands to rebuild the roster, as they have already either made/will make multiple moves that create other issues for head coach Kevin O’Connell’s team.
Keep tabs on every move the Vikings make with our free agency tracker.

Vikings re-sign LB Eric Wilson to three-year contract
The first move of free agency belongs to Wilson, as he signed a three-year contract worth a max value of $22.5 million.
It’s a rather hefty contract on the surface, but when you look at it from a totality perspective, it’s the same terms that Blake Cashman got and is likely structured to be a two-year deal with a dummy third year. Even with the higher price, it’s good perception for the Vikings to pay a player who broke out with them. It sends a strong signal to other players that they will do it again.
Ivan Pace Jr. gets the lowest RFA tender
In one of the biggest surprises so far for the Vikings, they are placing the original round free agent tender on inside linebacker Ivan Pace Jr.
After playing relatively well in his first two seasons, Pace was benched after Week 5 to give Wilson the starting job. He played a depth role and a crucial one on special teams. He will have a contract value of $3.52 million unless someone else decides to sign him.
Vikings officially place exclusive rights tender on Jalen Redmond
The Vikings made the most obvious move of the free agency cycle by officially placing the exclusive rights free agency tender on defensive tackle Jalen Redmond.
It was an obvious move for the Vikings, as he emerged as a superstar for Flores’ defense. His emergence was big for both the future of the Vikings’ defensive line, but also made both Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave expendable.
Vikings agree to terms with CB James Pierre to a two-year contract
The Vikings made their first big signing in free agency by agreeing to terms with cornerback James Pierre from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
This is a massive upside signing for the Vikings, as he only played around 400 snaps last season. In those, he was Pro Football Focus’ second-best cornerback in coverage. That’s a smart bet the Vikings have made, and he played for new defensive backs coach Gerald Alexander in 2025.
Ryan Wright heading to the New Orleans Saints
The Vikings will have a new punter in 2026, as Ryan Wright agreed to a four-year, $14 million contract with the New Orleans Saints.
Wright had his best season with the Vikings in 2025, and has turned that into a huge contract. He played college at Tulane in New Orleans, so it’s somewhat of a homecoming for him.
Las Vegas Raiders sign Jalen Nailor
The Vikings will have a new WR3 in 2026, as Jalen Nailor has agreed to terms with the Las Vegas Raiders.
It’s a huge contract for Nailor, and one that is very well deserved. If you look at the stats, Nailor won’t be that impressive with 29 receptions for 444 yards and four touchdowns. However, he put up numbers behind Justin Jefferson, T.J. Hockenson, and Jordan Addison, and J.J. McCarthy trusted him in key situations.
Klint Kubiak is going to love him in his offense, as he fits everything he wants to do.
Vikings retain Bo Richter and Zavier Scott
Getting back your core special teamers is important, and the Vikings have done that by re-signing Zavier Scott and Bo Richter.
Both players were exclusive rights free agents and will be back on minimum contracts. They will be key pieces for the depth of the roster, and Scott could be a really nice player at running back.
Special teams continuity remains with re-signing of Andrew DePaola
The Vikings’ special teams units received a little bit of continuity on Tuesday morning, as Andrew DePaola is returning to the team.
Long snapper is one of the more important roles on the team, as it’s a difficult job. The holder and punter will be new with Wright heading to New Orleans. DePaola is a multi-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler, and bringing him back was a no-brainer.
Tavierre Thomas re-signs with Vikings
The Vikings have re-signed one of their key special teams players to a two-year deal.
It’s a relatively expensive contract for a special teams player who had a few brutal penalties last season. He was on a one-year deal worth $2 million last year and he returns to be a key member of their special teams.
T.J. Hockenson’s contract details revealed
The details for T.J. Hockenson’s contract are interesting.
He gets a $7 million base salary and saves the Vikings just under $6 million. Where the other $3 million comes from is still unknown.
Daniel Jones signs with Indianapolis Colts
The Vikings have another quarterback coming off the board with the Indianapolis Colts signing Daniel Jones to a massive two-year deal.
It’s a very hefty contract for a team that only saw half a season of really good quarterback play, but it is only a two-year contract. At least the Vikings didn’t make this bet.
Aaron Jones is returning to the Vikings
The Vikings have agreed to a pay cut with running back Aaron Jones.
It’s a massive move for the Vikings, as they are going to be really strong at the running back position, as long as they are healthy. The key number is $4.25 million. It’s the amount that the Vikings are paying to keep Jones more than what they would have had in dead cap. They weren’t going to improve at the position with that amount of money on the market.
Vikings officially cut Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave
The Vikings officially cut both Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen.
Hargrave has already signed with the Green Bay Packers on a two-year, $23 million contract, while Allen will be a post-June 1st designation to give them a little bit more breathing room during the season.
Harrison Smith cut with a post-June 1st designation
The Vikings had to make a decision with Harrison Smith before Friday, March 13th and they did that on Wednesday by making him a post-June 1st designation.
With his contract structure, it was a necessary step they needed to make with the structure of his deal. He could very well be coming back to the Vikings, but it’s still up in the air.
