Everyone brushed off what Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase had to say in August.

Sure, it received plenty of attention. But no one actually took Chase serious.

That includes Bengals fans, Browns fans, AFC North fans, Chiefs fans, NFL writers, commentators, analysts, and probably even Cincy head coach Zac Taylor.

And now they should all be apologizing to Chase.

Confused?

Eh, probably not. You almost certainly know that I'm referring to Chase's comments during the preseason about Joe Burrow's calf injury.

When Chase suggested that Burrow should sit out the first few games of the season, everyone just assumed it was the superstar wide receiver showing support for his teammate/friend.

"I told him that with all honesty I don't want him there. Same thing with me last year," said Chase in early August. "I sat out an extra game just to let my hip all the way heal up, and you don't want to cause no other problems later on in the season, and I told him as long as you're there after Week 5 and on, we're good brother."

When Chase found out in August that Burrow was on the field throwing and running, he sounded miffed

"I didn't know he was doing that," said Chase. "He's still hard headed like I said. He does sh-t like that that's hard headed. Nobody knows what he's doing, so what can you say?"

Chase's comments were discussed plenty, but they were mostly dismissed, too.

"No way Joe Burrow misses Week One" and "does anyone think Burrow really isn't going to play against the Browns to open the season?" were the types of comments being thrown around in response to Chase's statement.

Burrow ended up playing in Week One and Week Two and the Bengals lost both games. To make matters worse, Burrow "tweaked" his calf injury in the loss to the Ravens on Sunday.

And now that Burrow is in danger of missing the Bengals' Week Three matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, folks are starting to realize that Chase was 100 percent spot on with his take.

And he reminded reporters of that on Monday.

"I wish we would have done that from the jump," said Chase on Monday while speaking to reporters in Cincinnati's locker room.

Next time, maybe we should all listen to Chase. After all, he's been with Burrow since 2018 at LSU. He knows the quarterback as well as anyone. And he told us all that it was unwise for Burrow play in the first few games of the season. Too bad no one listened.
