When talking about the Chiefs upcoming offseason, and how tedious they must be with everything, there can often be things forgotten about and left out of the conversation.

For starters, they have to worry about the draft coming up. Kansas City will have several positions to be filled, and decisions to be made about who will be drafted. Secondly, they have to worry about signing free agents and losing free agents.

A big conversation around Kansas City has been about the potential of losing leader Tyrann Mathieu. The starting safety will become a free agent this offseason barring no extension is made.

Most people, including analysts, are forgetting about an important player on the Chiefs that will also be a free agent.

Chiefs vital player on the offensive line to

become free-agent with no extension from Chiefs

Orlando Brown was a big part of the offensive success they had this year when they did have success. Coming into the 2021 season, Brett Veach had the task of revamping the entire offensive line, and he did. It had to be done in Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs best interest.

When needing to hit restart on something, like a particular position group, you usually don't get as good as Kansas City got in that focus area overnight. However, it felt like the offensive line got immediately better.

Much of the improvements can be attributed to Orlando Brown Jr., who the Chiefs traded for from the Baltimore Ravens. in return for a few picks. Kansas City gave up the 31st pick, who became the former Penn State DE Odafe Oweh and the 94th overall pick in last year's draft.

The Chiefs were able to still get exactly who they wanted in the draft, even with giving up the first-rounder. They would later pick Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith, a pair of starting offensive linemen.

After signing Joe Thuney, the Chiefs had four new players on their offensive line. They then somewhat completed the rebuilding process in as little as a few months.

Orlando Brown Jr.'s success

Orlando Brown Jr. was a big part of the offensive success. According to Pro Football Focus, the 25-year-old allowed four sacks last year, only one more than his previous three years.

However, one could say that blocking for Mahomes may be a bit more difficult than Lamar Jackson, who runs out of the pocket more than any other quarterback.

Brown Jr. played the eighth-most snaps in the NFL, logging 1127 total. In other words, he is durable. If there is one thing Kansas City has had an issue with, it's offensive linemen getting hurt. The former Oklahoma Sooner also only had seven penalties called on him last year, something that is better than it sounds.

While some of the numbers don't sound great, the Chiefs got Brown for cheap, as he produced better than what Kansas City would have found in free agency.

It should not be their top priority, but the Chiefs definitely do not need to forget about Orlando Brown Jr.
