The Washington Commanders are cracking down on their final big board for the 2026 NFL Draft, with less than a month until they’re on the clock.

General manager Adam Peters has six picks to work with as of now, and they have to make the most of all of them. The Commanders have been doing their homework by attending Pro Days around the country and continuing their talks with top prospects, with meetings and even top-30 visits in Washington.

The latest scheduled top-30 visit is with a chess piece on defense who was one of the fastest risers of the draft process.

Commanders scheduled a top-30 visit with CB Keionte Scott

The Commanders have certainly checked in on many top CBs in the NFL Draft, and have a top-30 visit scheduled with several, including Mansoor Delane and Malik Muhammad. Both of those are outside CBs who would start day one, but the latest top-30 visit is with versatile defender Keionte Scott, who can play anywhere.

Scott is an intriguing name to watch because he’s projected to go in the second round, and the Commanders don’t have a second-round pick as of now. He was one of the fastest risers this season, and his stock may have him out of the Commanders’ range. Regardless, they are doing their due diligence on Scott, who would be a perfect fit for Daronte Jones’ defensive scheme.

Keionte Scott would instantly fix the Commanders’ defense

The Miami Hurricanes had one of the best defenses in the country and were loaded with talent. Scott was one of the top players on defense and a true playmaker in the secondary. He played primarily in the slot and projects as a top nickel prospect as he heads to the NFL. Scott had 17 coverage stops, which was the sixth most in the country by a CB, and didn’t allow a single touchdown.

Scott fits what Jones looks for in his defense with experience, the ability to blitz at a high level, high IQ, speed, physicality, and versatility. He would be the starting nickel CB next season at 5-11, 193 pounds, and give the Commanders options with Amik Robertson and Mike Sainristil on the outside.

There’s a slight chance Scott could fall in the draft because he does have his flaws. Scott was a very late breakout player who just had his first notable season, and he turns 25 before the NFL season starts. He also had a foot injury in 2025 and a missed tackle rate of 20.3%.

This is a deep CB class, which could make him fall behind some true outside CBs. The Commanders are ready for anything, though, with a top-30 visit scheduled with Scott.
