The Georgia Bulldogs have recruited as well as anyone since head coach Kirby Smart took over the program back in 2016. That is especially true on the defensive side of the football, where the program has consistently pumped out elite units over the years. That’s what happens when outstanding talent meets excellent coaching.
In the 2026 recruiting class, the Bulldogs are in a heated battle for Torrance (Calif.) Bishop Montgomery linebacker Kenneth Goodwin, and he has some impressive options on the table. Georgia was named one of his finalists on Saturday amongst a very unique group of teams. Georgia was joined by the Michigan Wolverines, Oregon Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies, and SMU Mustangs in that top group.
Goodwin will be, not surprisingly, taking official visits to each one of his finalists. The California standout will be heading to Athens on June 6-8 for that official visit. He also be took his visit to SMU on May 2-4, and will be checking out Michigan on June 13-15 and Oregon 20-22. Goodwin has not yet solidified a date for his Texas A&M trip.
The talented linebacker is considered to be a four-star player by the majority of major recruiting platforms. On the 247Sports Composite ranking, he currently sits as the No. 248 overall player, No. 16 linebacker, and No. 26 player in the state of California in the 2026 recruiting class. Goodwin is rated highest by ESPN, currently pegged as the No. 132 overall player on their ranking.
Outside of Goodwin’s finalists, he has been pursued by a long list of impressive programs. Some of his other top offers include Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss, USC, and Auburn among many others.
If Goodwin ends up with the Bulldogs program, he has a chance to become a part of a pipeline of tremendous linebackers over the years. That includes CJ Allen who returns as one of the best in college football in 2025. Other names like Roquan Smith, Quay Walker, Nakobe Dean, Jalon Walker, and Smael Mondon have all been drafted into the NFL in recent years.
