After getting back from their trip to Buffalo early Monday morning, the Kansas City Chiefs finally got the MRI results back for a key player.
Chiefs starting LG Joe Thuney suffered a chest injury during the game against the Bills and he was deemed questionable to return. He never came back into the game. During the postgame injury update, Andy Reid confirmed that Thuney suffered a right pectoral injury.
Typically, you hear pec injury and fear the worst in the NFL, but it turns out that's not the case for Thuney. According to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Thuney suffered what is being described as a pec strain.
Does that mean Thuney will be ready to play in the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens? That remains to be seen. It'll likely come down to the severity of the strain and whether it impacts things like range of motion or whether it's simply a case of pain management and tolerance.
Knowing Thuney, he's going to want to be out there on the field and playing with anything short of a major injury. It sounds like he avoided that, which at the very least gives him a chance to play on Sunday afternoon. If not against the Ravens, he should be good to go should they advance to play in Super Bowl LVIII.
