The Tennessee Vols basketball program is the No. 1 team in the nation this week after starting the season with eight straight wins (UT moved to 9-0 on Tuesday night with a win against Miami).

The Vols were the obvious choice to move into the No. 1 spot in the rankings after several teams in the top five lost last week.

A couple of voters had one-loss Auburn ahead of the Vols.

Longtime college basketball analyst Seth Davis, who graduated from Duke in 1992, ranked Tennessee at No. 4, behind Auburn, Kentucky, and Duke.

No one else had the Vols ranked below No. 2.

No one else that has a vote thought the Vols should be below a two-loss Duke team or a one-loss Kentucky team.

It's pretty obvious that Davis' Duke bias is the only reason that he ranked Tennessee below the Blue Devils.

Maybe Davis is still irked about his Blue Devils losing to the Vols in the second of the NCAA Tournament in 2023 (numerous national media members suggested that the Vols played too physical against Duke in that game).

Either way, it's clear that Davis' vote was influenced by his undeniable bias.
