A former Tennessee Vols standout announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday on live television.

Defensive lineman Malik Jackson joined NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" in studio on Friday morning. While on air, Jackson announced that his NFL career is over.

"Yeah, I'm done," said Jackson when prompted to share his news. "I appreciated the free agency tag, it made me feel good. But I was like nah, I'm not leaving the couch right now. I'm happy at home."

Jackson, who is from Los Angeles, started his collegiate career at USC before transferring to Tennessee. The former Vol played under Derek Dooley at Tennessee from 2010 to 2011.

Despite playing at Tennessee 13 years after Peyton Manning, Jackson shared the best moment of his career with The Sheriff. Jackson was a key defensive lineman on the Denver Broncos' Super Bowl 50 team, which was Manning's final season (2015) in the NFL.

The Broncos' defense in 2015 is widely considered one of the best defenses of all time.

Jackson finishes his NFL career with 292 tackles and 35.5 sacks. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2017. Jackson spent parts of 10 seasons with the Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cleveland Browns.
