The 2024 offseason has come and gone, with the Indianapolis Colts set to report for Training Camp on July 24.
Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema shared what he believes was the best offseason decision made by each AFC team, with the Colts' being one they made during the 2024 NFL Draft.
Drafting Laiatu Latu

"Although the Colts finished 2023 as a top-five team in volume of sacks (51), they ranked 23rd in total pressures (279) and 23rd in pressure percentage (31.9%). Enter UCLA pass-rusher Laiatu Latu, a top-five finisher in the FBS in sacks, total pressures and pass-rush win percentage over the past two years.
The Colts impressively recognized their need for pass-rushing talent despite the high sack total, and that should pay dividends in 2024."
The Colts' decision to draft Laiatu Latu with their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft was great, but if I had to pick, I would go a different route with their best move of the offseason.
Re-signing Michael Pittman Jr.

The Colts only added two outside free agents this offseason, Joe Flacco and Raekwon Davis, neither of whom are projected starters. Instead, they chose to focus the majority of their attention on re-signing essentially all of their key in-house free agents. Their best move, in my opinion, was re-signing star WR Michael Pittman Jr. to a new three-year deal.
Multiple WRs have signed new contracts since Pittman Jr.'s new deal, which already looks like a bargain for the Colts. He has been the most consistent part of the team's offense over the past three seasons, and the plan now is for him to continue that for the next three as well. This will be crucial for QB Anthony Richardson as he continues to develop into the star quarterback the Colts believe he can become.
