The Indianapolis Colts have let multiple starters from the 2024 season walk in free agency, a very different approach to the offseason than in years past for general manager Chris Ballard.

The most recent in-house free agent the team let sign elsewhere was linebacker E.J. Speed. On Saturday, Speed signed a one-year deal with the Colts' AFC South rivals, the Houston Texans. Soon after that was announced, a former Colts player took to social media to speak his mind on GM Chris Ballard.

"4 years since I been with the Colts and my stance is still the some (same) after today. Chris Ballard don't know wtf he's doing!"

– Tavon Wilson via his Instagram story

Tavon Wilson had a ten-year career in the NFL. It began with him being drafted in the second round by the New England Patriots, and he went on to play for four different teams in his career. The Colts were one of them, with him spending the 2020 season in Indianapolis.

He appeared in 15 games and made two starts during his year with the Colts. He recorded 26 total tackles, one pass deflection, and one fumble recovery. He only played in 23% of the team's defensive snaps that season but had a larger share on special teams, with him appearing during 49% of the team's special team's snaps.

While his time with the team was short, Wilson seems to have a very clear disdain for the job GM Chris Ballard has done with the Colts. During that year, he was a teammate of EJ Speed, who the Colts allowed to sign with their AFC South rivals, the Texans. And he clearly thought that was a foolish decision on the Colts and Ballard's part. On the other hand, fans seem pretty on board with letting Speed walk. The fan base certainly has had their fair share of negative feelings about Ballard's tenure as GM, but this move doesn't seem to be one he gets criticized for.
