Taylor Swift broke the internet one year ago when she surprised everyone by bringing Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce up on stage during her Eras Tour show at Wembley Stadium.
Kelce joined Swift during her transition to her song, "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart," from her album The Tortured Poets Department. He was responsible for picking her up and carrying her to the couch, applying some makeup, and encouraging her to go out there and perform.
This moment went viral, and Travis even talked about it on his New Heights podcast after it happened.
"Shoutout to Tay for letting me jump on stage with her," Travis said on an episode of New Heights. "Who knows, it might not be the last time? You guys will have to keep showing up to the Eras Tour to see if I pop out of the stage or not."
It took fans a moment to realize it was him, but when they did, 90,000 people were all cheering his name.
"When everyone found out that it was me. Because it took a moment for everyone to figure it out and then they kind of put the camera on me. Kam and Jan, the three of us coming up the stage or on top of the stage," Travis explained. "That moment was pretty jarring. I was just like, ‘oh sh**!’ And you don’t realize how big that damn stage is. It is easily as big as a football stadium, like in terms of length. And then on top of that, it’s almost numbers to numbers. It’s way bigger than I could have every imagined. So being on the stage, I was just like, man I feel tiny up here. "
And he even had the original idea to join the dancers and ride bikes in the background as she sings 'Blank Space' from her album 1989. But Swift decided that he would be much better off in the role he ultimately played.
Swift even shared a photo of Kelce on stage with her on her Instagram story.
"And I’m still cracking up/swooning over @killatrav’s Eras Tour debut 🥰," she wrote. "Never going to forget these shows."
Hard to believe this was one year ago!
