The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off back-to-back Super Bowl victories, but fans are learning they're far from a perfect franchise.
The NFLPA released its second annual team guide with report cards on all 32 NFL teams, this time ahead of the 2024 NFL season. The union polled 1,300 of its members, asking for information about where their current team thrives and the areas where they could do better.
Last year, the Chiefs ranked 29th overall out of the 32 teams. It was hardly a good ranking and they seemed to respond to it with intention at the time. This time around the team fell two spots in the rankings to 31st overall, the second-worst mark in the NFL next to the Washington Commanders.
2024 NFLPA Report Card:

The lone saving grace for Kansas City this time around was head coach Andy Reid, who was ranked as the No. 1 coach in the NFL and given an "A+" grade.
The player's frustration stemmed primarily from workplace offerings such with "D" or "F" marks for things like treatment of families, nutritionist, locker room, training room, and training staff. Ownership and training staff both ranked 32nd in the NFL. One reason ownership was ranked so poorly was that Clark Hunt failed to deliver on promises of an upgraded locker room at the team's practice facilities.
"The number one complaint when it comes to the facilities is the locker room. Though the players received actual chairs with backs to sit in at their lockers in response to last year’s feedback, it did not change the fact that the locker room is overdue for a renovation. What adds to the frustration is that management told the players that renovations would come after the 2022 season. The players went on to win the Super Bowl and when they arrived back at their facility for the 2023-2024 season, they realized the team never followed through with the promised renovation (other than adding chairs)."
“The practice facility is something we're going to continue to think about," Clark Hunt told reporters after today's 'Arrowhead Reimagined' press conference on Tuesday. "It's coming up on 20 years. We've certainly, in a lot of ways, outgrown it. And we recognize we have a need to expand and modernize it."
Additionally, there seems to be some sense that the training room is understaffed with less than 50% of players reporting they get adequate 1-on-1 treatment time with members of the training staff.
2023 NFLPA Report Card:
How exactly did things change from the 2023 report card?

The Chiefs had a new strength staff during the 2023 NFL season after Barry Rubin retired after 10 seasons. That ranking took a big hit with Ryan Reynolds, Spencer Reid, and the rest of the staff replacing Rubin in 2024.
Treatment of families ranks worse than it did a season ago, which is disappointing to see.
Foodservice and nutrition are now ranked separately, but it seems that food service does have better offerings than a season ago.
NFL releases statement on NFLPA survey
The NFL released the following statement following the latest NFLPA Report Card. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero shared that message:
“The league and its clubs always encourage and solicit player feedback to help improve all facets of their NFL experience. We look forward to getting the opportunity to review the union’s questionnaire, and the data supporting it, after its release to the media.
“When we first learned of this survey yesterday, we took the opportunity again to invite the union to join the NFL in a rigorous and third-party scientific-based survey as we have previously done and is mandated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.”
Without saying it aloud, it sure feels like the league questions the methodology behind this survey.
