There continues to be nothing but encouraging news regarding Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce's injury.

Kelce hyperextended his knee late in practice on Tuesday. He's since had an MRI and the results revealed it to be nothing more than a bone bruise, according to his brother, Jason Kelce

The latest batch of news comes from the head man himself, Chiefs CEO and Chairman, Clark Hunt. Speaking with reporters at the team's "Red Wednesday" event benefiting Ronald McDonald House of Greater Kansas City, Hunt spoke about the unfortunate nature of the injury, while providing an encouraging update.

“It’s one of those unfortunate things, particularly for it to happen days before the season opener," Hunt said, via FOX 4 KC's Rob Collins. "The good news is the MRIs are all good on the knee and so it’s just gonna be a day-to-day thing and his ability to tolerate the pain.”

The fact that the MRI didn't reveal any accompanying ligament damage means that this injury might not keep Kelce down for long, if at all. Obviously, it's all going to be a matter of getting the swelling in his knee down, but also pain tolerance as Hunt described.

We'll see later this afternoon where he stands in terms of game status, but everything we're hearing so far hardly suggests that he'll be ruled out against the Lions. If anything, he's going to be declared a game-time decision. Kelce's brother said that when he had the same injury, he didn't miss any time, but the two do play different positions. You can rest assured that Kelce will push to play, but it'll ultimately be up to Andy Reid and Rick Burkholder to decide.
