Don't expect the Peacock exclusive playoff game to go anywhere soon. 

As everyone knows, the Kansas City Chiefs' 26-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night was only available on Peacock for the national broadcast. Fans in local markets were still able to watch the game on regional NBC affiliates. As a result, many who wanted to watch the game had to subscribe to the NBC Universal Peacock streaming service. 

The game already ended up in the record books as the fourth-coldest game in NFL history. According to NBC Universal, it also set live-streaming records. The game averaged 23 million viewers on Peacock at a given time with a total reach of 27.6 million per Nielsen. 

Those numbers make this game the most live-streamed event of any kind in United States history, topping the AFC wild-card game from last season by six percent. The press release says that 30 percent of all internet users in the U.S. were tuned into the game at some point during the night. They also note that this event created a traffic surge that caused the biggest day in Peacock history with 16.3 million concurrent devices active.

The bottom line in this situation is that the NFL and NBC Universal got exactly what they wanted out of this Peacock exclusive event. They knew that the Chiefs, even this currently flawed iteration of the team, are considered must-watch football. They used that to their advantage to get a record-setting sports event in the books.
