The Kansas City Chiefs spent Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft adding some new faces on the defensive side of the ball. One pick in particular seems to have caught the attention of a veteran in the room.
Chiefs CB Jaylen Watson took to X on Monday night to react to Brett Veach's additions to the CB room this offseason.
"Anybody else loving how the CB room looking," Watson wrote, followed by eyeball emojis.
The team's slight trade-up for California CB Nohl Williams at pick No. 85 was the most notable addition during the 2025 NFL Draft. Chiefs West Regional Scout Greg Castillo spoke on the pick and player over the weekend.
“The first thing that stood out was just from a person standpoint, this guy (Nohl Williams) is uber competitive and he loves football," Castillo said. "Then as far as a player’s concerned, and I think (Senior Director of Player Personnel Mike) Bradway hit on it yesterday, was the versatility and the tackling. Tackling as Bradway (said) is huge in our – like (Defensive Coordinator Steve) Spags (Spagnuolo) loves good tacklers, and he fits that mold perfectly.”
On top of the versatility and tackling, Williams brings some crazy ball production to Kansas City. Williams has recorded nine interceptions and 15 passes defended in his past two seasons for the Golden Bears.
Williams wasn't the only addition made this offseason, catching Watson's attention. The entire CB room looks much deeper and more competitive than it did in years past.
They added veteran free agent CB Kristian Fulton, who brings five years of NFL experience to the room. According to reports, the team has added a trio of players to the cornerback room in undrafted free agency: USC CB Jacobe Covington, Southern Arkansas CB Melvin Smith Jr., and FSU CB Kevin Knowles II. Those three should help boost the competition at the bottom of the roster with some returning players like Darius Rush, Eric Scott Jr., and Chris Roland-Wallace.
