The Kansas City Chiefs were back at practice on Tuesday ahead of their wild-card round matchup with the Miami Dolphins in the 2023-2024 NFL playoffs.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided his typical pre-practice injury update, confirming that two players would be absent from practice to start the week.
"Alright the guys who won't practice today are Wanya (Morris)," Reid began. "He's in the concussion protocol. We'll just see how he does. Justyn Ross has a hamstring strain. He's making progress, so that's a positive. Everybody else will practice today."
While the majority of players practiced in some capacity on Tuesday, we also learned more about those who could make a return to action from injured reserve.
Which Chiefs players could return for the playoffs?
If you're hoping to see second-year safety Bryan Cook or veteran RB Jerick McKinnon during the Chiefs' upcoming playoff run, you're in for some disappointment.
Andy Reid confirmed on Tuesday that it'd be a stretch for Cook to return for the playoffs.
“I think that would be probably a tough return right now with the way it sits," he said.
As for McKinnon, Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick caught up with him in the locker room on Tuesday. McKinnon confirmed that he had surgery to repair his groin injury and that he also had a fracture in his hip. It's unlikely that the 31-year-old will make a recovery in time to return this postseason.
The one player on track to return, should the Chiefs advance in the playoffs is second-year WR Skyy Moore.
“Yes, he’s on track, and then we’ll just see where that goes," Reid said of Moore. "He’s doing a great job, actually.”
