The Kansas City Chiefs are running out of options at the left tackle position, and the 2025 NFL free agency period hasn't even begun yet.
On Saturday, the Chiefs' top pending free agent target at the position, Baltimore Ravens LT Ronnie Stanley, signed a three-year $60 million extension with $44 million guaranteed at signing, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini. Stanley was perceived as the top left tackle prospect heading into free agency after the Los Angeles Rams re-signed Alaric Jackson.
Where do the Chiefs turn with Jackson and Stanley now off the board before legal tampering begins on Monday? They'll almost assuredly address the position in 2025 free agency and the 2025 NFL draft. Here's a quick look at the remaining left tackle options for Kansas City in free agency. . .
Who are the best remaining left tackle options for the Chiefs in free agency?
Cam Robinson: Robinson makes a lot of sense after playing for former Chiefs OC Doug Pederson in Jacksonville. He'll at least have a baseline knowledge of the scheme. Playing for the Jags and Vikings last season, Robinson allowed the most pressures in the NFL, combined regular-season and postseason (64).
Dan Moore Jr.: 2024 was easily the best season of Moore's NFL career, but that's not saying much. The 24-year-old allowed 10 sacks in the final eight games of the regular season for the Steelers.
Tyron Smith: Andy Reid has familiarity from his time playing against Smith at Dallas while he was coaching in Philadelphia. He started 10 games for the New York Jets in 2024 before suffering a season-ending neck injury. At 34, this would be a clear veteran stop-gap option for Kansas City.
Jedrick Wills: Injuries plagued Wills' final two seasons in Cleveland, leading to just 245 snaps played at left tackle (11 pressures, three sacks allowed) in 2024. He'd be a low-risk, high-reward investment, but he has to prove he can stay healthy.
Patrick Mekari: A player who is probably best-suited for the guard spot, but has shown the ability to flex out to left tackle and right tackle in a pinch. He allowed 15 pressures, including three sacks in five games starting at left tackle in 2023.
Jaylon Moore: A fill-in for Trent Williams with the 49ers in 2024, Moore could be an intriguing option. He's a younger player with limited snaps who showed tremendous promise on a struggling team last season.
The Chiefs also have some in-house options who could be re-signed, such as D.J. Humphries (who started one game in 2024) and Donovan Smith (the starter in 2023, now healthy).
