The NFLPA has released its annual team report cards, which were polled by thousands of players from across the league on areas where their teams thrive and areas which they could do better.
The Kansas City Chiefs' 2023 report card was abysmal, ranking 31st in the NFL, the second-worst mark next to the Washington Commanders. They shot up to 26 in 2024, which still isn't great, but a sign of progress. Check out the grades and categories below.
| Category | Grade | Rank out of 32 |
|---|---|---|
Treatment of Families | B- | 15 |
Food/Cafeteria | B | 16 |
Nutritionist/Dietician | A- | 5 |
Locker Room | D- | 28 |
Training Staff | C | 28 |
Weight Room | C+ | 30 |
Strength Coaches | B | 24 |
Team Travel | B | 21 |
Training Room | C- | 29 |
Head Coach | A+ | 1 |
Owner | C- | 26 |
To no surprise, head coach Andy Reid received the highest grade, not only on the Chiefs' report card, but in the entire league. Chiefs CEO and chairman Clark Hunt improved from an F- in 2023 to a C- in 2024. His biggest criticism has been failing to upgrade the locker room and facilities.
That leads to three of the lowest grades Kansas City has (locker room, weight room, training room). Hunt has previously stated that the team playing extended seasons over the past several years has left less time to update facilities. Another likely reason is that the Chiefs will probably be renovating again soon, or building a new stadium and facilities altogether.
Team travel made a nice improvement from a D to a B, but their ranking of 21st is still in the bottom half of the league. The main complaint here is that the hotel used for home games is inadequate, as players noted that bathrooms are often dirty and sticky, the beds are uncomfortable, and there is leftover trash.
The biggest upgrade from 2023 is in the nutritionist category, going from an F all the way to an A-. Kansas City hired a full-time dietician (Nici Mense) and several players noted that they now have individualized nutrition plans. Finally, another significant improvement was in treatment of families (D+ to B-), as the Chiefs began providing gameday care at the stadium in 2024.
