The Kansas City Chiefs unleashed the perfect prank on fans to celebrate April Fools' Day.

The joke came at the expense of head coach Andy Reid.

Reid is known for a few things off the gridiron. He loves Hawaiian shirts, cheeseburgers, and Brigham Young University sports, for instance. He's also known for his one key identifying feature: his mustache.

No one can forget how Reid's mustache froze over in the 2023 NFL playoff game against the Miami Dolphins. The mustache has become so iconic over his years of coaching in the NFL that Chiefs TE Travis Kelce even became inspired to honor Reid by rocking the iconic look during training camp

That's why it was so incredibly surprising when the team shared a photo of Reid on their social media channels with Big Red absent his signature mustache. The photo also featured Brett Veach, Clark Hunt, and Mark Donovan from the NFL's Annual Meeting in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Anyone who knows the Chiefs' head coach immediately reacted to the photo, knowing it had to be a prank. Former Chiefs' backup QB Chase Daniel took to X (formerly Twitter) to immediately call the joke out for what it was.

"No way Andy shaved his mustache," Daniel exclaimed. "April Fools guys."

A day earlier, Reid was seen front and center for the annual NFL head coaches photo, sporting his iconic mustache.

It would probably take some sort of trimming accident for Reid to shave off the mustache. It's been a part of him for his decades of coaching in the NFL, and it has become almost synonymous with his image and likeness. You'd be hard-pressed to find a photo of him without the mustache that hasn't been digitally altered.
