While Kansas City Chiefs fans have been fixated on 2024 NFL free agency, the team's college personnel department has been on the road at various pro days scouting the next generation of NFL talent

With nearly two dozen confirmed stops in the circuit thus far, the Chiefs are out in full force gathering every piece of information possible on draft-eligible prospects. That information will help Chiefs GM Brett Veach make informed decisions come the 2024 NFL draft in April.

Where have Chiefs scouts been and what have we learned in the process? Let's find out:

Arizona OL Jordan Morgan, Georgia WR Ladd McConkey could be among the top Chiefs draft targets

The Chiefs attended the Arizona Pro Day on Thursday, March 14 and the Georgia Pro Day on Wednesday, March 13. Both featured players who could be in play for Kansas City at pick No. 32 in the first round.

In Tucson, the Chiefs and most teams were in attendance for Arizona OL Jordan Morgan, who posted 27 reps on bench press during the pro day. Morgan ranked in the 88th percentile in A to Z Sports' Athletic Composite following his NFL Combine performance, where the 6-foot-5 and 311-pound tackle posted a 5.04s 40-yard dash, a 28-inch vertical and a 110-inch broad jump.

There had been some debate over Morgan's future position in the NFL, but during the on-field portion of Morgan's workout in Arizona, he only went through offensive tackle drills. The Chiefs value positional versatility, so if he can kick inside and play some guard it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Coming off an ACL Injury in November of 2022, Morgan allowed just 14 pressures (two sacks, one QB hit, and 11 hurries in 2023 for the Wildcats on nearly 800 pass-blocking snaps.

The name to know out of Athens, Georgia is WR Ladd McConkey, who looked silky smooth as a route-runner during his on-field work. He caught everything that was thrown in his direction. He also posted 4.04s short shuttle and 6.72s 3-cone times, which would have ranked among the best of wide receivers at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

A to Z Sports' Kelsey Kramer was in attendance for the event.

Beyond the stellar performances throughout the pre-draft circuit, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes shares an agent with McConkey. That could be the connective tissue that lands him in Kansas City on draft day.

Colorado DB Rodrick Ward could be the Chiefs' next late-round steal

The Chiefs were among the 20+ NFL teams to attend the Colorado Pro Day on March 19. Rodrick Ward, a grad transfer from Southern Utah, stole the show on Tuesday. Ward (5-foot-10 and 183 pounds) ran a 4.47s 40-yard dash with a 4.53s shuttle run and a 7.57s 3-cone time. He had 18 reps of 225 on the bench press. He jumped a 35.5-inch vertical and a 126-inch broad jump.

During the 2023 season, Ward worked his way up from the bottom of the depth chart to start in seven games and appear in all 12 games. He recorded 57 total tackles, two passes defended, and a forced fumble on the season. In the three years prior at Southern Utah, Ward appeared in 28 games, recording 92 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, one sack, two fumble recoveries, 12 passes defended, and five interceptions.

Chiefs intrigued by prospects at Georgia State Pro Day

The Chiefs were among the 29 teams on hand for Georgia State's Pro Day on March 18, showing an interest in OT Travis Glover and LB Jontrey Hunter.

Hunter is a former high school safety who converted to linebacker at the college level. At 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, he started over 30 games, posting 191 total tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, two INTs, eight passes defended, and five forced fumbles.

Glover is of particular intrigue to Kansas City. He was a late addition to the Senior Bowl roster and a snub from the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indy. He reportedly ran a 5.28s 40-yard dash at 6-foot-6 and 317 pounds, also posting 20 repetitions of 225 on the bench press with 35-inch arms. The Chiefs have needs at the offensive tackle position for the future, whether it's adding starting-caliber players or depth. I'm told Kansas City likes Glover's experience, with 57 career starts at left tackle, right tackle, and left guard over his five-year career at Georgia State.
