Chiefs-Eagles Wednesday injury report: Kansas City short-handed at WR, but defense could get a boost
Next man up mentality.
The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for a Super Bowl LIX rematch as they host the Philadelphia Eagles in their 2025 home opener. They will look to get back to .500 after falling to the Los Angeles Chargers 27-21 in Week 1. Let’s take a look at the Chiefs’ latest injury situation.
Eagles’ Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | Tuesday |
| TE Dallas Goedert | Knee | DNP |
| QB Tanner McKee | Thumb | DNP |
| RB Will Shipley | Oblique | DNP |
| OL Landon Dickerson | Back | LP |
| LB Jalyx Hunt | Hip | LP |
Observations:
- The big one here for Philly is Goedert, who is dealing with a knee sprain. Goedert is one of the more underrated tight ends in the NFL, and it would be a blow to the Eagles’ offense if he can’t play on Sunday.
- Dickerson is another one to keep a close eye on, who is Philly’s starting left guard. He was on the Eagles’ injury report for Week 1, but able to play the entire game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Chiefs’ Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | Tuesday |
| WR Xavier Worthy | Shoulder | DNP |
| WR Jalen Royals | Knee | DNP |
| DT Omarr Norman-Lott | Ankle | FP |
| RG Trey Smith | Knee/Illness | LP |
| LB Drue Tranquill | Knee | LP |
| LB Nick Bolton | Biceps | FP |
| WR Hollywood Brown | Ankle | FP |
| DB Chamarri Conner | Wrist | FP |
| DE Ashton Gillotte | Elbow | FP |
| OT Jawaan Taylor | Knee/Ankle | FP |
KEY: DNP = Did not participate | LP = Limited participation | FP = Full participation | NIR = Not injury related
Observations:
- Coach Andy Reid already stated during Wednesday afternoon’s press conference that Royals will likely not play this week. Reid wasn’t as exact about Worthy, but it’s safe to assume his availability is in major jeopardy.
- Smith’s limited practice status probably has more to do with his illness than his knee. He’ll be monitored throughout the week, but has four days to get better.
- Tranquill was also limited with a knee injury. He briefly left Friday’s matchup against the Chargers, but was able to return and finish the game.
